Career Opportunities working as a Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
The Pet industry was already a massive and rapidly growing industry, with people spending more of their disposable income on their pets health and care than ever before. Now with the influx of pet owners due to Covid the medical and surgical treatments pet owners are investing in for their pets has increased substantially. Consequently, so too has the need for therapy treatments that can accelerate the dogs recovery and maximise their quality and length of life.
Becoming a Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist with our certificate courses provides you with the knowledge, training, and experience to do the following:
Work in a clinic: More vet clinics are adding rehabilitation and body therapies to their services and are looking for qualified Canine Remedial Massage Therapists to join their teams. Existing Canine Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Centres, and even dog groomers, dog kennels, pet resorts, and rescue organisations are also looking for qualified Canine Remedial Massage Therapists to help treat their clients as an additional and complimentary service. So, there are plenty of job opportunities on the rise once you are certified you just need to research what's available in your local area.
Start your own business: As the need for rehabilitation services increases, so too does the opportunity to open your own Canine Massage Centre or mobile business. We recommend doing thorough preliminary research and included in the course is a module on starting your own Remedial Massage business and how to work with your local veterinarian(s) to generate referrals for your new business.

CANINE MASSAGE COURSE GRADUATE SAYS:
"What I enjoy the most about this course is the fact that it has been an avenue to assist me to have a future working with and helping improve the quality of dogs' lives. The course platform was so easy to navigate and the support and assistance throughout were exceptional. The Q and A sessions were an amazing opportunity to learn directly from Michelle and the workshop was so valuable for bringing together the theory and practical, especially with such a variety of canine models."
- Angela P. - Dual qualified - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist AND Certified Canine Hydrotherapist

Equip students with the knowledge and experience they need to be able to devise appropriate massage programs, tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
Create experienced and certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapists available to work in conjunction with a patient's vet as part of a healthcare team.
Ensure the level of care and treatment provided to canine patients and their owners is of exceptional quality and sets the standard within the industry.
CANINE MASSAGE COURSE GRADUATE SAYS:
"My only concern when I started was if I was smart enough to understand and take in all of the content but that was definitely not a problem as everything is explained well and in detail. As well as having multiple opportunities through the support team or the live “Q and A’s” to get a better understanding of anything I was unsure about. I loved the whole course. I loved that everyone was very welcoming, patient and understanding with us as students. The fact that you could tell everyone involved had a genuine interest in helping animals made it a whole lot better too."

Will this Certification be recognised in my country?

If you are located in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Hong Kong then your CHWA certification is recognised and accepted in these countries and you can obtain insurance.
IMPORTANT: If you are located in USA or Canada the CHWA is recognised and accepted in SOME STATES. Because the rules and regulations are different in every state, it's important before you enrol that you conduct your own research to confirm that once you are qualified you can practice in your country and state without any further qualifications and that you can obtain insurance. We are not responsible if this is not possible for you.
(To check USA state laws & regulations click this link here - USA States )
For all other countries>>If your country/state has a canine regulatory body (a lot don't yet) then it pays to mention, when checking with them, that the course is taught by Michelle Monk who is both a Human Physiotherapist and a Canine Physiotherapist with over 22 years clinical experience in canine rehabilitation and that the course takes 10 months to complete with over 50 hours of practicals along with final theory + practical exams.
Note: In most countries/states unfortunately you may find that there isn't a regulatory body for canine therapies and therefore having a qualification will give you a higher level of professionalism and expertise setting you apart from the competition. For insurance in these states we recommend reaching out to other canine therapists already practicing and asking them about their insurance.

- Kim L - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
CANINE MASSAGE COURSE GRADUATE SAYS:
"The way Michell has put this course together shows the care and passion she has for animals. Any help and support you need is there. During the workshop she was questioned by students and kept answering until all students were satisfied. Also the amount of content we are given, I think I could keep studying and learning for another couple of years or more. It was very professional but also down to earth, low stress, interesting and well spaced out course."

Making a difference and saving canine lives

Roonie
"Without rehabilitation, so many of the dogs I' have seen over the years would not have regained the function they did and gone on to live happy lives. My own dog 'Roonie' who had spinal surgery for IVDD would not have been able to walk again. This goes for thousands upon thousands of dogs who have been through our doors over the past 21 years. Canine rehabilitation increases strength, helps restore and maximise mobility, and saves lives"
- Michelle Monk
This course is accredited by the ACRA - Australian Canine Rehabilitation Association
The Canine Health & Wellbeing Academy is an Internationally Approved Education Provider by the IAAMB
CANINE MASSAGE COURSE GRADUATE SAYS:
"I wasn't sure how easy it would be learning how to massage online but once I started I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was so informative and the content was very in depth (more than I was expecting) but easy to learn at your own pace and style. I'm so happy I went ahead with it and I loved that it contained information about the business side of things too!"

Frequently Asked Questions
What our course Graduates have to say:
"I do like the way there is hands on components throughout the course as it’s not something you can learn from a text book. It helped me learn and understand more clearly and in depth of what was needed from me as a massage therapist. I loved how detailed everything was, for someone with little knowledge of this subject like me were to do this they can pick it up, learn and follow along easily with good understanding of it all."
- Emily D. - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
"I am so excited to have completed this fantastic course, the amount of knowledge and skills I have learnt have been invaluable. I will of course continue to learn, practice and rely on the expertise and information you have provided to us as students. I would recommend this course to anyone working or looking to work in the animal industry, as I feel the skills and knowledge you learn from it can be beneficial in any environment. I currently use the techniques I have learnt in the emergency vet clinic to calm anxious or fearful animals, I use it on the farm to change behaviour and of course provide relief of sore muscles to our livestock - the benefits are immediately apparent. The teachings and education is so diverse it can be adapted to so many different avenues of animal welfare and care."
- Kylie M.- Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
"Seeing consultations done from start to finish and seeing an actual visible difference in the dogs in the prac workshop was exciting for me. This is where I said to myself , this actually works and I can now go on to make a career and confidently charge money for the service."
- Brad S - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
"Michelle really knows what she's talking about and has a wealth of information and stories to share. It was evident all the way through the course. ""The information was clear, high quality and research supported. It is presented well, and at a very good level for the skillset I brought into the course."
- Jessica M - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
"I highly recommend this course. You are taught to think about each dog individually and what their specific needs are. There’s no one size fits all approach. You will learn the foundations of massage and massage techniques as well as how the different pathologies affect the dogs and how they move. You will have the skills to offer an effective treatment plan specific to each dog and also a plan that works for your own body and hands."
- Kim L - Certified Canine Remedial Massage Therapist
"I loved all of this course - I just want to know more now. Michelles is amazing - a master teacher and inspiring role model. I am so glad I trusted myself about taking this course as it has been so very worthwhile. A massive thank you. Thank you also for taking the time to answer all of my questions."
- Beverley H - Certified Canine Massage Therapist
"Thank you very much Michelle and the team, for your commitment in sharing your knowledge and passion in this special field, for being ever so encouraging to all of us and giving us the support we need, to take this first step into this area of work.
